NETIO PowerPDU Quick Starter Guide

NETIO PowerPDU is a smart PDU (Power Distribution Unit) with four power outlets (4x IEC-320 C13). Each output can be remotely switched on/off individually from the web interface. Simply connect your IT devices to the NETIO PowerPDU appliance, and connect it to the network for remote access. To switch the outputs on in a sequence, a power up delay interval can be configured for each output. The NETIO PowerPDU can be managed via the web interface of the NETIO PowerPDU appliance, NETIO Mobile2 app, NETIO Cloud or via an open API which supports a number of protocols. The NETIO Power PDU is available in two models, the NETIO PowerPDU 4PS and the NETIO PowerPDU 4C.

The core difference between the two models are that the NETIO PowerPDU 4C supports output metering with energy measurements to help identify energy savings, zero current switching to increase the longevity of the appliance, and support for LUA scripting to provide the ability to write custom scripts to control individual outputs. The NETIO PowerPDU 4C also supports a built in LAN switch, a watchdog function to check the network availability of IT devices before power controlling them autonomously, setting a power schedule to power down IT devices at certain times for IT equipment not required for additional power saving, the ability to send email alerts, has physical buttons to power outlets on/off, and supports various additional protocols. Both the NETIO PowerPDU can be mounted in rack cabinets – horizontally, vertically, or as a 1U device with various rack mounting kits available enabling you to also mount 2x NETIO PowerPDU appliances side by side in a single 1U rack space. 

Integration and Management

The NETIO PowerPDU includes a LAN port for remote power monitoring and control via a managed web interface. Authenticated users are able to power control each outlet separately to troubleshoot unresponsive IT devices deployed remotely. The NETIO PowerPDU can be managed in various ways using the on onboward web interface, NETIO Mobile2 app, NETIO Cloud and open API. 

  • The NETIO Mobile2 app controls each output individually over LAN (local network) or NETIO Cloud.
  • The NETIO Cloud is a SSL-secured service for controlling the outputs of multiple NETIO PowerPDU appliances from anywhere (Web or Cloud API).


  • The Open API enables integration into third party systems and allows controlling the outputs over the network using various protocols (http XML/JSON, Modbus/TCP, MQTT, SNMP, Telnet and more...).
  • AV drivers make it easy to connect NETIO sockets to professional Audio/Video control systems such as Neets, Crestron, Control4 and more.

Open API

For Open API communication, one M2M protocol can be chosen at a time from among the following:

Documentation for the protocols is available at the manufacturer’s website. The ANxx Application Notes provide useful deployment guidance. Regardless of the one Open API protocol used, the NETIO PowerPDU can be always controlled from its web interface and from the NETIO Cloud service at the same time.



  • PowerUp state – Set the state of the outputs to power on, stay  powered off or resume at the last state when power has been restored


  • PowerUp delay - Set the delay of each output in order of power up or to avoid inrush of power 
  • Low power consumption - The NETIO PowerPDU 4PS consumes between 1-3 Watts whilst the NETIO PowerPDU 4C consumes between 2-5 Watts
  • Simple installation - Mount into a 10” or 19” cabinet as a 1U device or vertically on the side
  • ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) – ZVS reduces the stress on the NETIO PowerPDU appliance and prolongs the life of the appliance. It is particularly suitable for electrical appliances such as servers and other IT devices with a high inrush current. 
  • ZCS (Zero Current Switching) - ZCS significantly improves the lifetime of the NETIO PowerPDU appliance and the connected end devices and particularly important when frequently switching IT devices three or more times a day and is recommended for IT devices with high inrush current. (Netio PowerPDU 4C model only)
  • IOC function (Independent Output Control) – States of outputs are not affected by LAN connection failures, network layer restarts, or firmware upgrades

  • Scheduler - Quick and easy way to setup periodic restarts for troublesome IT devices, provide energy savings and minimize energy consumption and heat i.e by powering IT devices down at night time. The scheduler is fully autonomous and does not require an internet connection. (Netio PowerPDU 4C model only)

  • IP Watchdog - The IP WatchDog function checks the availability of another device in the network using the “ping” command (ICMP protocol). If the WatchDog function does not receive a response within a specified time, it power-cycles the socket (Short Off) to reboot the connected device. (Netio PowerPDU 4C model only)

  • Custom scripts -  The NETIO PowerPDU supports Lua scripting language. Custom scripts to control individual outlets can be written over the WEB interface. (Netio PowerPDU 4C model only)
